(Full tutorial below) I created this tutorial to show you just how easy it is to make a full backup with Acronis True Image software. Afterwards I will double click on the backup file to show you that you can go into the archive that’s created and pull out a file if you need to.
1. Fire up Acronis True Image Home by clicking on its shortcut
2. Select Disk and partition backup
3. Select the source drive. I’m selecting the 1 TB hard drive where I save my data, like movie files.
4. My Destination drive is already set to my new 2 TB Western Digital Green drive, but you might have to chose whatever drive makes sense for you.
Notice how there is an option to set a regular schedule for this particular backup. If you want this backup to run automatically for you on a schedule click on “turn on” to setup your backup schedule. Otherwise skip this step.
My backup scheme is set to incremental. With this scheme a full backup in done once, and incremental backups are done thereafter to capture whatever files have changed or been added since the last version.
A Differential backup stores all the changes that have taken place since the last Full backup.
A full backup stores entirely the data selected to a backup.
That’s pretty much it. Just start the backup and, you’re all set.

I use an SSD (solid state drive) for my operating system and my favorite apps, and for my data like movies, pictures, music, and other software applications, I use a 1 GB SATA drive. For backup software I use Acronis True Image Home 2012 (It came with my copy of Windows 7 from NewEgg as a freebee), to make a backup of my system at least once a month. Recently I purchased a 2 TB Western Digital Green SATA drive to make a full backup of my data drive and that’s what’s in my how to backup a data drive video .

Here are the details regarding the Playstation 3 hard drive upgrade. My original PS3 had a 20GB drive!
- PS3 HDs must be formatted FAT32
- Your backup drive must also be formatted FAT32
- You must use a 2.5″ laptop size hard drive
- There is currently one 1TB drive that works, it’s made by WD here is the model number -WD10JPVT
The reason for doing an upgrade like this is to avoid having to delete game saves, game data, PSN store games etc. The PS3 also makes a great entertainment center, when paired with a large hard drive it can house most (if not all) of ones media.
