(Full tutorial below) I created this tutorial to show you just how easy it is to make a full backup with Acronis True Image software. Afterwards I will double click on the backup file to show you that you can go into the archive that’s created and pull out a file if you need to.
1. Fire up Acronis True Image Home by clicking on its shortcut
2. Select Disk and partition backup
3. Select the source drive. I’m selecting the 1 TB hard drive where I save my data, like movie files.
4. My Destination drive is already set to my new 2 TB Western Digital Green drive, but you might have to chose whatever drive makes sense for you.
Notice how there is an option to set a regular schedule for this particular backup. If you want this backup to run automatically for you on a schedule click on “turn on” to setup your backup schedule. Otherwise skip this step.
My backup scheme is set to incremental. With this scheme a full backup in done once, and incremental backups are done thereafter to capture whatever files have changed or been added since the last version.
A Differential backup stores all the changes that have taken place since the last Full backup.
A full backup stores entirely the data selected to a backup.
That’s pretty much it. Just start the backup and, you’re all set.

I use an SSD (solid state drive) for my operating system and my favorite apps, and for my data like movies, pictures, music, and other software applications, I use a 1 GB SATA drive. For backup software I use Acronis True Image Home 2012 (It came with my copy of Windows 7 from NewEgg as a freebee), to make a backup of my system at least once a month. Recently I purchased a 2 TB Western Digital Green SATA drive to make a full backup of my data drive and that’s what’s in my how to backup a data drive video .

One of the most common ways that business users lose data is when a hard disk goes bad. What IT pros often don’t realize is that there are ways to see if a hard disk is going to fail before the failure occurs, which can provide enough time to back up needed data.
The most notorious cause of hard-disk failure is a head crash, where the internal read-and-write head of the device touches a platter, or a magnetic data-storage surface. A head crash usually incurs severe data loss, and data recovery attempts may cause further damage if not done by a specialist with proper equipment.
Hard Disk Sentinel (HDSentinel) is a multi-OS SSD and HDD monitoring and analysis software. Its goal is to find, test, diagnose and repair hard disk drive problems, report and display SSD and HDD health, performance degradations and failures. Hard Disk Sentinel gives complete textual description, tips and displays/reports the most comprehensive information about the hard disks and solid state disks inside the computer and in external enclosures (USB / e-SATA). Many different alerts and report options are available to ensure maximum safety of your valuable data.
No need to use separate tools to verify internal hard disks, external hard disks, SSDs, disks in RAID arrays as these are all included in a single software.
Hard Disk Sentinel monitors hard disk drive / HDD status including health, temperature and all S.M.A.R.T. (Self-Monitoring, Analysis and Reporting Technology) values for each disks. Also it measures the disk transfer speed in real time which can be used as a benchmark or to detect possible hard disk failures, performance degradations.
HDSentinel is the perfect data protection solution: it can be effectively used to prevent HDD failure and SSD / HDD data loss because it has the most sensitive disk health rating system which is extremely sensitive to disk problems. This way even a small HDD problem can’t be missed. The Professional version has scheduled and automatic (on-problem) disk backup options to prevent data loss caused by not only failure but by malware or accidental delete also.
