Second Copy® is the perfect automatic backup software designed for Windows XP and above. It makes a backup of your data files to another directory, internal or external hard disk or to a computer across the network.Second Copy® monitors the source files and keeps the backup updated with new or changed files. It runs in the background with no user interaction. So, once it is set up you always have a backup of your data somewhere else. Backup has a simple, one-click data backup and a one-click restore button. Click this button; choose where you want the backup stored, then PC Backup backs up the entire system to that location. If you have more than one hard drive on your computer, this tool will copy information contained on it too; you can’t specify which hard drives will be backed up with the one-click As you use your hard drive, it can develop bad sectors. Bad sectors slow down hard disk performance and sometimes make data writing (such as file saving) difficult, or even impossible. An error checking utility scans the hard drive for bad sectors. It also scans for file system errors to see whether certain files or folders are misplaced.
In addition to running disk cleanup and disk defragmenter to optimize the performance of your computer, you can check the integrity of the files stored on your hard disk by running the error checking utility. If you use your computer daily, you should try to run this utility weekly to help prevent data loss. It will also aid in your attempt to make a computer run faster!A PC Backup program is an important consideration that is better, easier to use, and more completely protects your system in the event of a computer crash. When you run a disk cleanup program or some sort of registry error checker you run the risk of deleting important information. If you use a PC backup software program you are protected if that happens. It would be terrible to screw up your computer when you are trying to make it run faster.Let us not forget about an Anti-Virus program. An anti-virus program is a software program, which is installed on the computers to help them protect from computer viruses, spyware, adware, Trojans, and other malicious programs. Such programs, after breaking into the PCs, install themselves on the PCs and hamper their speed or steal vital information such as bank account numbers, passwords, and credit card details etc. from them. The stolen information can be misused for financial/social crimes or as a serious threat to national security.
As you can see there are a number of things you need to do to make sure your computer runs efficiently. There are easy to use tools to speed up, maintain and optimize your PC.With these tools you can speed up your computer, optimize performance, and protect your privacy. Additionally, you can accelerate start times, recover lost data, and repair hard drives to keep your computer running like new. Of all the tools out the a solid PC backup program is the most critical.

This is a quick tutorial outlining the process of restoring your 2011 MacBook Air. Since the MacBook Air no longer ships with system restore disks (or restore USB key), this is the only way to either restore the system or recover it from a Time Machine backup. The process I’ve outlined will leave you with a freshly installed copy of Apple OSX Lion.

http://www.lockergnome.com/windows/2012/02/03/what-to-include-in-a-backup-and-how-to-do-it/ – Backing up your hard drive is one of those fundamental principles of smart computer use. You never know when your PC is going to suddenly grind (literally) to a halt. Hard drives, even solid-state ones, are all prone to failure. It’s not a matter of if a drive will fail, but when. For many people, that answer comes within the first five years of use. Even armed with the knowledge that backing up your data is crucial, though, it’s hard to know where to start. Here, we try and help you out by telling you what to include in a backup, and how to do it.

(Full tutorial below) I created this tutorial to show you just how easy it is to make a full backup with Acronis True Image software. Afterwards I will double click on the backup file to show you that you can go into the archive that’s created and pull out a file if you need to.
1. Fire up Acronis True Image Home by clicking on its shortcut
2. Select Disk and partition backup
3. Select the source drive. I’m selecting the 1 TB hard drive where I save my data, like movie files.
4. My Destination drive is already set to my new 2 TB Western Digital Green drive, but you might have to chose whatever drive makes sense for you.
Notice how there is an option to set a regular schedule for this particular backup. If you want this backup to run automatically for you on a schedule click on “turn on” to setup your backup schedule. Otherwise skip this step.
My backup scheme is set to incremental. With this scheme a full backup in done once, and incremental backups are done thereafter to capture whatever files have changed or been added since the last version.
A Differential backup stores all the changes that have taken place since the last Full backup.
A full backup stores entirely the data selected to a backup.
That’s pretty much it. Just start the backup and, you’re all set.

I use an SSD (solid state drive) for my operating system and my favorite apps, and for my data like movies, pictures, music, and other software applications, I use a 1 GB SATA drive. For backup software I use Acronis True Image Home 2012 (It came with my copy of Windows 7 from NewEgg as a freebee), to make a backup of my system at least once a month. Recently I purchased a 2 TB Western Digital Green SATA drive to make a full backup of my data drive and that’s what’s in my how to backup a data drive video .
