I need to find a way preferably FREE to backup my xbox 360 games and have them play
If you want to back them up, install them on the hard drive. But you still need the game disc to read the copyright (otherwise you could just steal games by renting them and installing them … and you wouldn’t want to do that … right??)
Anyhow, installing them on the hard drive saves the disc and the laser.
This one that I was thinking of getting says it requires Windows XP/Vista or Mac OS 10. But is that just for some special backup software or something that it comes with? I don’t really need special software, as long as I can drag and drop files. The HD is here:

It’ll work fine. Linux supports every major filesystem. As you said, the software won’t work, but the basic linux copy command does as much as that special software…
Please recommend free backup software that can keep folders synced between an internal drive and an external drive.

Today i tried to backup my ps3 things on to my portable harddrive WD 320 gb, so i worked an hour through it, then all of the sudden it stopped reading all my usb drives, whenever i click on it, it shows nothing and freezes! I turned it of several times then the WD can now be read, however my other 8 gb kingston still cannot be read. For some reason all other usb are ok, but this one just lags the system and freezes. When it freezes it later resets and gives me this message: "The system software cannot be run. Press PS button to try to restart the system…" then in talks about updating to version 2.70 and blahblah… I mean its ok if i dont use that usb, but if i have a problem with it, maybe i have a problem with something else.. I checked the usb for there to be anything wrong on the pc – NOTHING WRONG!! I know i can do a system reset to default, but i just want to make sure if theres anything else i can do, BEFORE I GET THERE… plz help!
First, you should update to the latest firmware availble which is 2.70 right now.
Second, the USB flashdrive may actually have a virus. It’s possible for a virus to spread into a USB flashdrive. I know you checked it on your PC but a PC can handle certain viruses like Malware. It might be too much for the PS3 to handle since it’s not programmed for that stuff.
Third, call Sony.
