could anybody show me a software for operating system backup and recovery very fast like ghost(i cannnot find it),in case my computer have crash or virused, hacked so on and later to an unrepairable state, i can scroll back very fast leaving all the system, application, setting and config, data and files unchanged
and also if anyone can tell me if there is any addins or software that can be downloaded used to cache pages, docs, or docs locally on my local computer while remaining the hyperlink the same as it is originally, thus i can access much faster, if any such software, if there is where i can get it

I think that you might want to check out StompSoft’s PC Backup. This software will allow you to pick and choose which items you want to back up as well as let you create a bootable disaster recovery CD/DVD that can restore your applications and OS when used in tandem with a regularly created backup file. Here is a link to more detailed information :http://www.stompsoft.com/pc-backup/pc-backup.html

My PC has two disks, one is a backup of the other. My bootable disk is broken but I can boot from CD, however my graphics card is broken as well so I can only boot in text mode or VESA mode.

Is there a cd image that I can boot that will allow me to transfer my files from the backup hard disk to a portable USB storage hard disk?

Thank you.

You can remove your hard drive into another computer
or used cd image in PE mode.

I am trying to back up my macbook pro. I am wanting to do a full disk image but Time Machine does not have that capability. I am looking for a free backup software with a full disk image capability. Thank you.

We use SuperDuper (http://www.shirt-pocket.com/SuperDuper/SuperDuperDescription.html) at work, which is free without any features. If you pay the $30 for it, you can get additional features, including just backing up the files that changed since your last backup. It’s worth every penny.

There’s also Carbon Copy Cloner (http://bombich.com/), which is completely free. I haven’t used it, so am unaware of it’s features compared to SuperDuper.

I have a Seagate 80 GB Hard Disk with 4 partitions all having 18.6 GB. One Day many trojans and viruses infected my computer and I reinstalled my Windows XP. Since then it is showing three drives having 18.6 GB(its normal) but one drive having 11.1 GB. I formatted the drive again and again , scanned for viruses but nothing worked. I had installed a backup software (Farstone Restore IT) which used 6 GB. I uninstalled it, but my space didnt came back.
Please tell me what to do.
Thanks.

Check in Computer Management -> Disk Manager, if there’s any un-partitioned space…

I have 3 – 250GB external hard drives. I would like to upload all of the data from those hard drives to Online backup so that I do not have to carry the bulky hard drives everywhere and have a peace of mind that all my data is actually secure.

Also, I checked with Carbonite & Mozy’s Unlimited backup plan – they say that their software would only "SYNC" unlimited data from One Computer’s hard drive – so the "Unlimited" is limited to the maximum "Hard Drive Capacity" and I just use laptops (max HDD 320 GB)

Is there any backup service which would allow me to upload almost 1 TB data at a reasonable price?

IBackup has a nice feature that they’ll send you a drive to copy your data onto, so you don’t have to transfer 1TB of data over the net for your initial backup. They call this Rapid Serve. However, 1TB of backups with them costs $600 / month!

Since you have external drives, I’d recommend Backblaze, who provide real support for external drives (you can get around this with Mozy, but it’s not officially supported in the Home edition, only Pro). This way, instead of $600 / month, you’d be paying $5 / month. However, you have to upload all your data, which could take some time. Typical home users can do about 4GB / day, so it’ll take you about 9 months to finish your first backup. However, with a faster connection, it won’t take as long (I could do 1TB in 24 days, based on the speed test I just took at Backblaze’s website: http://www.onlinebackupsreview.com/go/backblaze.php )

Hello All:

I got hupigon13 and win32delf.uv infections on my Gateway XP desktop. Spybot temprarily erases them but when I reboot they come back. Symantec does not seem to get rid of them. AVG is not helping, either.

I’ve read many suggestions to others online but I am thinking it may be easier to wipe out the hard drive and reload everything.

I have the following questions:

- Does the software on the special partition for restoring the system wipe out everything on the HD including the infections?

- I am planning too backup my documents on DVD’s. Would any of these infections migrate with the DVD’s? I do not want to re-infect my restored computer afterwards.

- If they could get onto the DVD’d, what can I do to prevent this?

Thanks
Hello all:

I still have not fotten a satisfactory answer on this.

Any other comments would be apprciated.

If you do a system restore before the infections happened then no your hard drive will not be wiped. It just restores your computer to a earlier time. Also get rid of Norton.

I am looking for software that can do a couple of things. First do a complete image of my pc. Second, I would like to use the software to backup files and folders to an external hard drive. Once the initial backup is done, I would like the software to only add changed files to the backup on the external hard drive. I’m not wanting to copy the same files over and over and full up space that I don’t have to. Suggestions?

Windows 7 backup complies with all your requirements.
For other operating systems you may want to try:
Cucku Backup 2.10
Comodo backup

Is there anyway that you can backup a software that already installed. Example, i installed word office in #1 computer, is there a way to backup this software and install it to #2 computer? thanks a lot

You can just use your installer of the office to install on the other computer. But if it is already installed, I guess you can’t even copying the whole folder of the office and transfered to another computer. You really need to an installer for the other computer.
