I purchased a P3 system that was running Windows 98 in 1997. I upgraded to Windows XP in 2005. I built a P4 (later in 2005) and using NTI backup software saved the entire system to CD and loaded it all to the new system (using "System recovery"). Everything from the previous system was restored and worked perfectly for several months. I had to reformat the HDD a couple of years later and did it using the XP software. Now the Windows Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel etc are no where to be found. Can anyone tell me how to get them back. I still have the original Win 98 CD that came with the old P3 machine I bought as well as the Upgrade XP version.
you’ll have to have the install CD for MS Office to reinstall them.
I made a DVD backup of my files from my desktop PC. Now, when I pop the DVD into my drive, the drive won’t recognize the disk. I’ve tried using 3 different laptops and 2 different PCs and none of them will even acknowledge a disk in the drive. Any suggestions on retrieving the information? Or am I screwed?

I just spend hours fixing a virus on my computer. Is there anyway to make a backup disk of all my files on a cd? Im kinda a newby to computer software so I would appreciate any help anyone can give me. thanks
I believe the best way is to buy one of the external hardrives that just plugin to your computer(USB). the cd route is limited by the space on the cd to about 4 to 8gbs at best. this is usually not enough room to back up your computer. i notice the prices are falling on these units. they usually come with some software. if not and your using windows xp they have a basic backup program that will allow you to back up your computer and then make further backup of the information that is new when you back up again. good luck . check out those external hard drives.
