Had computer problems and almost lost everything but I was able to fix computer from disk that came with it. Is it possible to create a backup cd with my computer’s files on it. I can’t use a dvd because I don’t have a burner. I also have a 4mb usb flash drive if that is enough space.

To create a backup of your entire hard drive would be excessive for the average computer user. With computers having a bare bones setup of about 40GB, you would need burn about 100 CD’s, and you would need 17,920 4MB flash drives ( though I think this is a typo and you actually have a 4GB flash drive in which you would need at least 10 more of those). Data transfer rates are slow with these forms of storage so to copy that much data would take hours. Usually, I simply suggest backing up only your important docuemtns.

You could buy a second hard drive and set up a RAID controller that continually backs up your data so that if one drive fails, you have another drive that is good.

you can just simply copy paste it to the baCk up folder or use acronis

I’m looking for a software to create a new partition of C: drive. I want the new partition as small as possible. I don’t want to backup my entire C drive that is about 200 GB.

I’ve seen many laptops have recovery partition containing windows drivers and some programs and its not larger than 20 GB. I need that something like that.

Thanks

Ideally, any backup you make should NOT be on the same drive as the data you are backing up. The reason for this is when the hard drive finally goes, your backed up data will go with it. BTW, it isn’t IF your hard drive will die, it’s WHEN. With that thought in mind, you may want to re-think backing up data to the same drive that the original resides.

I am trying to use a standard blank dvd (memorex dvd+r) and I am trying to use the drive that I always use to burn dvds/cds. It works ok in nero just not in any backup software. I have tried using acronies true image and norton ghost but both say the same thing when I tell it I want to back it up to there. I have also tried using different blank dvds but the same message just keeps coming up

I believe you need to create an image, then use Nero to burn it, Neroe can create the image it can also create the back up if you like.

I got Norton Ghost with my Dell laptop and it copied exact copies of my files onto the second hard drive daily. Then when the hard drive was full you could choose which backup copies to delete to make room for more. Follow the link in sources to check it out. It’s $70 but it does everything you asked. If your computer fails, you don’t even need the first hard drive, Norton Ghost will restore everything from the daily restore point.

I am looking for a good and reliable Software to make an Image of my HDD’s, that is capable of recovering said image from some kind of boot cd / USB Stick / DVD.

I am getting sick of reinstalling my system every 6 month, installing same programs, drivers and other applications.

Need to make an Image of my HDD on DVDs which i can easily boot from and pop back onto my HDD so i dont have to spend 2 days installing everything.

Some kind of referance Link/URL would be nice.
Thanks in advance!

My recommendation is True Image because it is very stable and able to to backup to any location available.

I am looking to backup my server every night with an incremental backup and then once a week with a full backup.

Is there a good piece of software out there that people would recommend to do the job. I don’t know if there is a difference between a server and a normal pc version/

You can try Genie Backup Manager Professional V8,which is the backup solution for Small and Medium Business Users that easily want to back up and recover their entire system. Never again have to suffer from running out of business due to data loss by computer viruses, equipment failure and security breaches.

Backup your files and folders to a secure location and recover your data in an instant or perform a complete backup of your system (Disaster Recovery) to recover from failure.

I would like something simple that would syn all of my music from my main harddrive to the backup automatically.

Well, it’s not so much as a software issue. You’ve brought an external hard drive for you music, right?? Well, all you gotta do is transfer all of your music to your external hard drive ,thus creating space on you C drive. Although your gonna have to tell your music player where to find your music, not that difficult. If your computer crashes for whatever reason, all your music is on your external hard drive saved.

hey guys,
my gran has a computer and she wants to back up her files on her portable hdd, so she went to the shop and the guy there gave her some crazy backup software that slows everything down and and uses terms she doesnt understand, its getting her annoyed. So, I was wondering if there was any free software she could get that would be relatively easy for her to use. If there isnt really any, or there’s a better solution, please say. thanks in advance!
